Office Song

It’s another office affair – one of thousands. But in Office Song, the inner world of ordinary office workers and their humdrum lives bursts into life with poetry and something greater than the sum of their tedious working day is revealed. 

The film was shot in 2019 and is written and directed by Marcus Markou. The film is currently doing the film festival circuit and has been screened at over 40 festivals world-wide, so far, winning 10 awards. The film stars Terry Mynott, Georgia Maguire and Tim Plester.

Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times

Alistair and Samir meet five different times, but it is only when they meet as old men that they can finally put their prejudices aside and become friends. This film champions friendship and compassion over separation and distrust. It was shot in August 2017 and stars Laurence Spellman and Sargon Yelda. It is the second short film from writer/director Marcus Markou. 

The film has been screened at over 60 festivals word wide, winning “best short” for many of them including: Manhatten, Beeston, Dinard, Maryland, Omaha, San Jose, San Luis Obispo, Taos Shortz, Royal Starr, Paris Play, Short to the Point, Sunscreen, Blue Whiskey, New Media and many more.

Papadopoulos & Sons

Papadopoulos & Sons was written and directed by Marcus Markou and starred Stephen Dillane. It screened at festivals including Dinard, Palm Springs and Thessaloniki (where it won the audience award) before being released in Greece in December 2012, the UK in April 2013 and in Germany in June 2013. It was sold to the BBC, ARTE and Netflix and became a surprise indie hit, and a model for successful self-distribution.
